Important Notice from Peel Exterior Maintenance Inc. also dba Peel Landscape Depot (“Peel”) Re: COVID-19 & Our Commitment to Our Staff, Customers, Suppliers and Communities

The COVID-19 pandemic raises critical and unique issues for all organizations, including Peel.

Yesterday’s provincial announcement ordered all non-essential businesses in Ontario to close as of 11:59pm on March 24, 2020. The provincial government then released a list of essential businesses which would be exempt from this order. After consultation with Peel’s external general counsel, it was determined that Peel qualified as an essential business and would be permitted to operate.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, Peel has given considerable thought to the current environment and, after careful consideration has ultimately determined that it will continue to operate, albeit in a reduced capacity, because it believes it can do so safely. We would like to take this opportunity to assure every one of our stakeholders that safety remains at the forefront of our thinking, especially as we monitor and adapt to the changing environment brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an effort to maintain the safety of our employees, customers, and all other stakeholders, we have implemented precautionary measures proactively as well as in response to the latest health guidelines and recommendations provided by federal, provincial and municipal authorities, which include, in part:

  • Staying informed of the latest recommendations in respect of COVID-19; to this end, we have also posted in high traffic areas throughout our organization select notices prepared and circulated by the Public Health Agency of Canada;
  • Implementing and enforcing new social distancing protocols;
  • Significantly reducing onsite staffing levels in further support of our commitment to social distancing;
  • Restricting new sales to those received via online, phone or e-mail; no in-person orders are permitted at this time;
  • Rethinking and revising our operating procedures to restrict and better control the flow of people and goods into and out of our property in a manner that satisfies existing social distancing recommendations;
  • Cancelling our annual Contractors’ Day event, initially scheduled for March 25, 2020; and
  • Keeping open lines of communication with all employees and other stakeholders in an effort to stay informed about, and address, challenges attributable to our changing environment.

Furthermore, Peel made the difficult decision to close its Mississauga landscape supply depot on March 17, 2020 in an effort to direct all business through one centralized location, being its Georgetown landscape supply depot. To our customers in Mississauga, and to those affected by our new in-person / onsite restrictions, please note that we remain fully committed to supporting you as best we can, to providing guidance in areas of expertise and, as such, we look forward to continuing our dialogue over the phone or via email (please find our contact information below).

Importantly, and worth highlighting, Peel continues to provide the essential snow removal and deicing services our commercial clients have come to depend on.

This is not business as usual. The situation in respect of COVID-19 is rapidly evolving and we will continue to monitor, and act on, new information as it becomes available. You will be informed of all business developments via our social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook) and our website (

Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures and we at Peel will continue to do what we can to minimize the risk of transmission of COVID-19 in the communities we love and serve. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time, and sincerely hope that you, your families and your businesses remain safe and healthy!

On behalf of the entire team at Peel
